Conversations to Remember is excited to announce significant updates to its training program for all Virtual Visit Volunteers!
These new methods are designed to better equip volunteers for their important role in connecting with seniors. The organization’s goal is to ensure every volunteer feels confident, supported, and prepared to create meaningful, engaging conversations that truly make a difference.
Updates Driven by Valuable Feedback
These changes were directly inspired by valuable input gathered from the community.
Over the past few months, Conversations to Remember has compiled and analyzed constructive feedback from its dedicated volunteers, experienced trainers, and insights gained from observing and reviewing numerous virtual visits. The organization recognized opportunities to strengthen preparation in key areas and is thrilled to roll out a more comprehensive and practical training experience.
Highlights of the New Training
Following training best practices, the enhanced program focuses on practical skills and deeper understanding, structured around core improvements:
1. Modular and Interactive Learning
The new program is now modular and highly interactive.
- Modular Structure: Information is broken down into smaller, focused sections, allowing volunteers to absorb complex topics more effectively. It also enables them to take breaks during training if they don’t have sufficient time to complete all the modules in a single session.
- Interactive Sessions: The training replaces passive learning with interactive exercises to reinforce learning, boost retention, and increase confidence.
2. Practical Exercises and Preparation
To facilitate a smooth transition from theory to practice, we’ve developed a practice tool that volunteers can use prior to their mock call simulation. This tool will help students become accustomed to some of the challenges that we see that they experience on the mock calls. Better preparation will lead to increased success in the mock call and on the virtual visits. The mock call remains a cornerstone of our readiness assessment.
Conversations to Remember believes these comprehensive changes will not only enrich the volunteer experience but will also elevate the quality of connection provided to every senior served.
