After a successful debut in December 2021, the annual C2R Talk-a-thon returns for its second year.
The C2R Talk-a-thon is a 15-day campaign hosted by Conversations to Remember with the goal of raising money and awareness for senior loneliness and isolation. Participating individuals and groups join together to call seniors during the Talk-a-thon period to make an emotional and financial impact during the holiday season. It is an uplifting effort that is open to anyone, from preteens to senior citizens.
Registration for the C2R Talk-a-thon opens on October 15, 2022. From October 15 to December 1, anyone can sign up and begin their fundraising campaign. Then, from December 1 to December 15 all registrants will reach out to senior citizens in their communities.
The Talk-a-thon is an opportunity to fundraise with Conversations to Remember to support the organization’s efforts, while simultaneously bringing joy to seniors. The holiday season can be incredibly lonely and isolating for senior citizens. Reaching out to them and sharing stories can bring them comfort during what is supposed to be a festive period, and Conversations to Remember encourages participants to contact as many seniors as possible.
Similar to the C2R volunteer calls, the Talk-a-thon is a completely remote event. Participants are encouraged to reach out to senior members of their community via phone or video call, while spreading awareness for senior loneliness through whatever method is most convenient. Even a five minute phone call to a senior citizen can make a world of difference.
All the money raised during the Talk-a-thon goes directly towards helping Conversations to Remember expand and reach more senior citizens – both at home with a caregiver and in a senior living community. When needed, C2R provides assisted living communities with the technology required to participate in weekly video calls. The fundraising profits will go towards purchasing and equipping communities with tablets, headphones and required software, as well as training volunteers and communities.
